Russian, and its cyrillic script, is not the easiest language to learn. Learning a whole new script is a truly challenging task but one that can be hugely rewarding too. With the help of a teacher who is a native speaker learning the language is certainly doable and it can be an extremely valuable and useful skill to have.

Russian level 1

During this course you will learn to speak and write using the Cyrillic alphabet. The topics discussed include travel, arriving at the airport and visiting hotel and restaurants. Grammar-wise you’ll learn about the article, verb form of the imperative, personal and possessive pronouns, prepositions, there is / are and numerals. You will work on pronunciation, fluency, grammar, vocabulary and listen to CDs. Information is provided about Russian social behaviour.

Dates & Fees

Russian level 2

This course builds on the Russian 1 course. You continue with masculine and feminine nouns, verbs like may and can, present and past, the higher numerals and the adjective. The themes of the course include the department store, Russian holidays and Russian meals. The emphasis is on speaking, but grammar, vocabulary, listening and writing skills are also part of this course.

Dates & Fees

Russian level 3

We further elaborate on prepositions, masculine and feminine words, neutral words, impersonal constructions and a selection of nouns. You continue with the numerals above 100. Attention is paid to telling the time, plurals, expansion of adjectives and verbs. In addition, we practice with making phone calls. The focus of this course is on practicing speaking skills.

Russian level 4

During this course you will learn reflexive verbs in the present tense, the short form of plural adjectives and genitive plural of a group of masculine and feminine nouns, verbs like can, sleep, sing and drink. You will also learn social manners, you can demonstrate personal preferences and know about life in Russia in general. After this course you will have a reasonable fluency in Russian – you can talk about many different topics.
